Using data assimilation to infer the degree of chaos - NPG paper of the month awarded to our research

The Nonlinear Processes in Geophysics paper of the month was awarded to our study “Inferring the instability of a dynamical system from the skill of data assimilation exercises” by Yumeng Chen, Alberto Carrassi, and Valerio Lucarini. In this study we showed that it is possible to use data assimilation to infer the degree of instabilities in a chaotic systems. See the full news here.
