Maddalena Veronesi was born in Bologna, Italy. She
received her medical degree and post-graduate specialization at the
Medical School of the University of Bologna. From 1996 she is
working at the Department of Internal Medicine of the University of
Bologna, where she attended to the specialization course on
“Arterial Hypertension”, directed by Prof. E. Ambrosioni, and where
she received several grants for doing research in the field of
essential hypertension, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular
complication of hypertension, global cardiovascular risk
evaluation, and role of endothelial NOS polymorphism in arterial
hypertension and dyslipidemia. In 1999 she obtained an
international research grant from the Italian Society of
Hypertension to work in a foreign university and from May 2000 to
June 2001 she worked as a post doctoral research fellow at the
laboratory of the Nephrology Unit of the Veterans Affair Medical
Centre, Minneapolis, direct by Dr. Leopoldo Raij. Now she is
working as scientist at the Department of Internal Medicine of the
St.Orsola-Maliphi Hospital, University of Bologna, directed by
Prof. C. Borghi.
