Elisa Avitabile

Assistant Professor of General Microbiology ( SSD BIO/19) at the University of Bologna  since October 1st, 2001. She carries out her research in the field of molecular virology. Her research interests are focused in particular on the Herpes simplex virus (HSV) and the membrane proteins virus-encoded. In recent years her experimental projects have focused on molecular engineering and characterization of oncolytic herpes virus. She is in charge of the “General Virology” and “ Applied Virology” courses for the three-year Degree in Biological Sciences, and the two-years Master degree in Health Biology, University of Bologna.

She is author of 34 articles published on international peer-reviewed journals (Virology, Journal of Virology, Proceedings of National Academy of Science, Journal of Biological Chemistry etc. ) .
