Curriculum vitae

Born in Rome on July 13th 1964.

1st class degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1990.

Qualified as an Engineer with full marks in1991.

Qualified as a Ropeways Director in 1992.

PhD obtained in 1994.

Professor of “Production Technology” at the “A. Meucci” Technical Secondary School (Cittadella – Italy) from 1992 to 1995.

Employed as an Assistant Professor in 1995 at the University of Bologna, where he is attached to the DIN Department.

In 2001 he became an Associate Professor of Machine Design.

In 2016 he became a Full Professor of Machine Design.

Since 1996 has been in charge of the DIN Library, and in 2007 he was made Director of the Italian Design Summer School: art, society and industry supported by agreements between the University of Bologna, the University of Shizuoka (Japan), the Yuan Ze University (Taiwan) and the Tongji University (China).

He has been part of the Academic Board of the Doctorate in Automotive for a smart mobility proposed by the DIN of the University of Bologna. He has been the Tutor of five PhD students in the cycles XVII, XIX, XXII, XXV and XXIX. It has been a Reviewer for several international journals with impact factor and an evaluator of research projects, both Regional and National. It is inserted in the Scientific Committees of International Congresses. It has been, finally, one of the Associate Editors of the journal "Proceedings of the Instituti on of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science" from 2015.

From 2002 to now he has been the Scientific Coordinator of numerous research projects for which he has managed, directly and indirectly, a total amount more than 600,000 Euros of funding.

Since 1999 he has been in charge of an Erasmus exchange program with the University of Limerick.

The research activity is mainly focused on the following fields: shaft-hub connection, threaded connection, friction coefficient definition, fatigue behaviour of materials, adhesive bolted and interference fit joints (hybrid joints).

He holds a patent as an inventor.

He was awarded from the EURASEM (European Society for Experimental Mechanics) with the ‘Robert Hooke’ award the 4th of July 2018.

He is, finally, the author of more than 200 publications, including six monographs (two of them as international edition), three contributions in book chapters, as international editions, some papers presented at national and international Conferences, some manuscripts submitted to national and international journals of which 104 are included in ISI or SCOPUS databases, 154 in Google Scholar.
