Degree (laurea) in Biology, University of Padova. Thesis on
“Population analysis in a microcosm”, reporting his experimental
work on the use of laboratory ecosystems for the parametrisation
and validation of mathematical population dynamics models. (Tutor:
Prof. A. Parise).

At the Department of Biology of the University of Padova, for the
post-graduate training period required for the enrolment in the
Italian National College of Biologists, working on the ecology and
taxonomy of Copepoda, Cladocera, Rotatoria and Trichoptera.
January 1989 - December 1989.
Researches on aquaculture and restocking of Italian endemic
freshwater fish species, granted by a fellowship from the Ente di
Sviluppo Agricolo del Veneto (Agricultural Development Board of the
Region of Veneto).
February 1990 - October 1992
Ph.D. student at the Department of Biology of the University of
Bologna. Mainly involved in laboratory experiments which supplied
the data for his Ph.D. thesis on the population dynamics of Tubifex
tubifex (Oligochaeta, Tubificidae); collaboration with his tutor,
Prof. G. Bonomi, in other research projects both on aquatic
oligochaetes population dynamics and on zoobenthic community
structure of Italian lakes.
