Katia Mattarozzi

My education took place at the University of Bologna and Princeton University (USA). The academic journey is characterized by the development of scientific evidence concerning the role of relevant environmental stimuli, such as faces, and the implicit inferences associated with them, in modulating processes of memory, decision-making, and emotional responses, with a particular focus on the healthcare domain. In recent years, I have focused on investigating how automatic cognitive processes related to face perception and individual expectations can modulate the perception of pain, highlighting their impact through placebo and nocebo mechanisms. Today, I coordinate a European cooperation partnership project, PANACEA "Special Needs by Placebo," aimed at bridging the gap between scientific evidence on placebo and nocebo effects and clinical practice.
