Short Bio
Vincenzo Amendolara graduated with honors in Language, Society, and Communication from the University of Bologna – Alma MaterStudiorum, where he also won the LANSCO Award for deserving students for two consecutive years.
His master's dissertation, whose results were later presented at the Europhras 2023 conference at the University of Milan (May 2023), focused on the contrastive study of phrasemes. On June 13, 2023, he was also awarded the Premio America Giovani (America Youth Award) for deserving young graduates of Italian universities at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.
He is currently Subject Expert (cultore della materia) for the international MA in Language, Society and Communication, pursuing his Ph.D. in Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures: Diversity and Inclusion, where he focuses on the critical and linguistic analysis of climate crisis and social media, from a contrastive perspective (German-English-Italian), according to the theoretical framework of ecolinguistics, and with a corpus-assisted approach. His analysis focuses on the comparison between how the climate crisis is conceptualized in the comment sections of TikTok and YouTube, and the stances commenters take toward the climate topic. Data was gathered through the platforms' web APIs using the Python programming language and a hashtag-based data fetching method. The data is organized into respective corpora and subcorpora covering the period from 2022 to 2025. The comments are then annotated using MAXQDA software, enabling quantitative and qualitative thematic cluster analyses. Linguistic patterns (such as trigrams and keywords) are analyzed collectively using the corpus management tool Sketch Engine.
He is also a Cross Linguistic Analyst in the H4rmony Project [https://theh4rmonyproject.org/]], which aims to integrate eco-awareness into AI systems. Additionally, he is a researcher for the PRIN (Research Projects of Relevant National Interest) Minori in movimento: per una cartografia di migrazioni forzate dal nazismo e delle loro testimonianze [https://prinminorsonthemove.wordpress.com/], georeferencing oral history with chrono-topological data.
