Riccardo Mandrioli (SMIEEE) was born in Pavullo nel Frignano (MO), Italy, in 1995. He received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering in July 2017, the M.Sc. degree (cum laude) in Electrical Engineering in October 2019, and the Ph.D. degree (Hons.) in Biomedical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering in March 2023, all from Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy. He is currently a Tenure Track Assistant Professor (RTT) in the academic discipline IIET-01/A (formerly ING-IND/31) – Electrical Engineering, with the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering, University of Bologna. From November 2022 to January 2024, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor, and since 2017 he has been involved as a Teaching Assistant for multiple engineering courses. In 2022, he was a Visiting Scientist with the Chair of Power Electronics, Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Kiel, Germany. In November 2023, he obtained the Italian National Scientific Habilitation (ASN) for the permanent position of Associate Professor in the academic recruitment field 09/IIET-01 (formerly 09/E1) – Electrical Engineering. His research interests include power electronic converters, electric vehicle charging systems, photovoltaic systems, harmonic pollution, efficiency improvement, and circuit modeling, with recent focus on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to power electronics. He has authored more than 40 journal articles and over 60 conference papers. Dr. Mandrioli has received several awards, including the IEEE IES – Italy Section Chapter Ph.D. Thesis Award (2024), the MDPI Electronics Best Ph.D. Thesis Award (2023), the Typhoon HIL Best Paper Award, two IEEE PESGRE 2025 Best Paper Awards, the IEEE ENERGYCON 2020 Best Paper Award, and the IEEE IES SYPA Award at IEEE CPE-POWERENG 2023 and IEEE IECON 2025. He also received Best Reviewer Awards from IEEE ICDCM 2025 and IEEE PESGRE 2025 and was a finalist in the IEEE IES Generative AI Challenge 2025 as a member of the CircuitCrafters Team. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and an Editorial Board Member for Electricity, Designs, Discover Electronics, and Discover Vehicles. He is Treasurer of the IEEE Italy Industrial Electronics Chapter, a member of the IEEE Italy Section Entrepreneurship Committee and Young Professionals Affinity Group, and an active member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Technical Committees on Energy Storage, Power Electronics, and Education in Engineering and Industrial Technologies, as well as the IEEE Power Electronics Society Technical Committees on Control and Modeling of Power Electronics, Electrified Transportation Systems, Sustainable Energy Systems, Emerging Power Electronic Technologies, Wireless Power Transfer Systems, Design Methodologies, and Aerospace Power. He has been an invited speaker at NPEC 2025, IEEE PESGRE 2025, and IEEE ICSEE 2026, and has extensive experience in international conference governance, serving as Track Chair for IEEE PEMC and IEEE HSI, Technical Program Committee Member for IEEE ICCE, IEEE ICDCM, and IEEE ENERGYCON, and Local Organizing Committee Member for IEEE CPE-POWERENG. He represented the IEEE Italy Section at the IEEE IES Students and Young Professionals (SYP) event in 2025.
