Paolo Abondio is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Bologna. He holds a PhD in Earth, Life and Environmental Sciences from the same university. His research is carried out at the Laboratory of Molecular Anthropology and Center for Genome Biology, where he focuses on the analysis of SNP-chip and whole-genome sequencing data to recover signals of neutral and adaptive evolution in human populations; in particular, he is interested in examining both environmental and biocultural influences on the (dis)adaptation of human metabolic pathways. He previously obtained a MSc in Bioinformatics at the University of Bologna, with a thesis on the genomic structure of the Italian population.
