Current Research Projects:

Covid-19, State-Power and Society in Europe – Focus on Western Balkans

A book has been published by Springer Publishers resulting from this research. Indices by leading research institutions have been used to collect information on regime, human freedoms, economic freedoms, corruption, rule of law, state of human rights and media freedoms in 45 European countries. The resulting findings uncover state of the society in each of the countries. Additional empirical research and expertise on Western Balkans are being used to focus on the specific geopolitical area.

Global Contest: Liberal Democracy, Illiberal Democracy, Muslim Model of Society and Chinese State Capitalist Model in search of Local Clients

Theoretical considerations of disadvantages and pressing challenges facing liberal democracy as a model are considered in the context of empirical findings. The return of geopolitics is in the focus of this research seeking answers to the compatibility of particular political systems to specific socio-cultural communities. The question is whether a political contest between several global powers could become a ‘continuation of politics by different means?’
