I am an applied economist working on topics belonging to the intersection between political economy and development economics.
My research focuses primarily on the economic consequences of civil conflict, organized crime, and weak institutions. I study these topics both theoretically and empirically. I estimate my models using a combination of methods from both structural and reduced form econometrics.
Primary research agenda: focus is on firms. I am interested in determining whether and how idiosyncratic distortions — affecting only a particular group of firms or economic sectors — propagate throughout the whole economy and shape aggregate outcomes.
Second research agenda: the effects of refugees’ crises on local outcomes such as individual voting behaviour and local wealth.
