I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Bologna. My research spans Economic History, Political Economy, and Behavioral Economics.
My research has been published in leading journals in economics, economic history, and political science, including the Review of Economic Studies, the Quarterly Journal of Political Science, and the Journal of Economic History.
In economic history, I focus on the development of the British state, using the British experience to explore broader questions about institutions, public policy, and state capacity. A related line of work investigates the role of the state in Britain’s mortality decline. In behavioral economics, I develop and implement preference elicitation methods to inform theoretical models and improve measurement of individual decision-making.
