Other teaching related activities

2020-2021 Development of open-source computing codes - aLOTofImaginArches, Matlab App for the graphical analysis of masonry arches, aLOTofImagineArches is an opensoure Matlab educational software that allows for interactive demonstrations that involve the user in experimentation with the funicular solution concept.
The tool is designed for the master students of the courses MHMS and HMWS and is mainly useful to capture the idea of infinite^3 funicular solutions for masonry arches., https://virtuale.unibo.it/course/view.php?id=21026.

Software development

I've recently started a new software development within the Julia [https://julialang.org/] computing language using the FinEtools [https://github.com/PetrKryslUCSD/FinEtools.jl] .

I have been one of the active contributors of the software FAESOR [http://hogwarts.ucsd.edu/~pkrysl/faesor] .

  • FAESOR is a Finite Element software toolkit for Matlab.
  • The toolkit includes finite element tools for linear transient thermal analysis and elastodynamics.
  • Further included are models for nearly incompressible linear elasticity (based on assumed-strain nodal integration continuum elements -- NICE), electrostatics, small-strain plasticity, nonlinear heat conduction and phase transformation, vibration of structures in fluids, acoustics, buckling analysis, and more.
  • The finite elements include linear and quadratic triangles, tetrahedra, linear to cubic quadrangles and hexahedra, and of course linear to cubic curve elements.
  • Starting with version 1.2 beam elements are also available for linear and geometrically nonlinear analysis (including buckling).
