Several activities are currently available in the field of sustainable powertrains and energy powerplants design and optimization with hydrogen based on physical and/or Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning modelling processes:

  • CFD Modelling and Simulation of high-efficiency Gasoline Compression Ignition (GCI) combustion performed in a multi-cylinder light-duty engine.
  • Modelling and Calibration of H2-ICE based on machine learning and artificial intelligence methodologies.
  • Modelling and Feasibility study of green hydrogen-based solutions for energy sustainability and micro-grid development.
  • Modelling of high-efficiency Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition (dual-fuel) combustion performed in a single-cylinder heavy-duty research engine.
  • Modelling and performance evaluation of Aeronautics Turboshaft Gas Turbine engine fueled with hydrogen.
  • Modelling and performance evaluation of Small Gas Turbine equipped with additive manufactured ceramic blades.
  • Test cell monitoring and control systems development.
  • Design of hydrogen storage and distribution system of hydrogen for testing facility.
  • Low-cost piezoelectric sensor development for combustion indexes estimation based on machine learning and artificial intelligence methodologies.

All these activities are available both in person and remote working and they will be performed at the Department of Industrial Engineering - DIN at University of Bologna (Bologna and Forlì).
