WORK EXPERIENCE

01/11/2025 - Current

PhD Researcher within the Radio Science and Planetary Exploration Laboratory at the University of Bologna

  • Design of the Radio Science Experiment of ESA's RAMSES mission focusing on the gravity field estimation of the asteroid Apophis
  • Gravity field modellization of small celestial bodies (asteroids and comets)
  • Use of gravity field and other types of data to characterize the interior structure of small celestial bodies

01/05/2025 - 31/10/2025

Research Fellow within the Radio Science and Planetary Exploration Laboratory at the University of Bologna

Reasearch and design of autonomous navigation algorithms for entry, descent and landing missions, focusing on the Mars and Enceladus scenario.

  • Reasearch on the state of the art of autonomous navigation algorithms of Mars entry missions
  • Developing of a navigation filter to be implemented on the on-board computer of an entry vehicle
  • Design and modelling of navigation measurements for entry missions

01/05/2022 - 31/07/2022

Intern within the Atrophysics Department at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

Research on a computationally cheap gravity model of Didymos binary asteroid system using concentrated masses:

  • Study on gravity respresentations and their advantages
  • Development of algorithms to switch among gravity models (Stokes Coefficients, Inertia Integrals and Mass Concentrations)
  • Simulations of orbit propagations using computational integrators on Python and Matlab
  • Application of Optimization Algorithms using pygmo library on Python
