Elena Korchmina

Assistant professor at the University of Bologna since 2024. Prior to this, I was an Assistant Professor and Marie Curie Fellow at the Department of Economics at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). In 2020 I was an Assistant Professor in History at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow. In 2017-2020 I was a postdoctoral research fellow at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD).

I have a PhD in Russian History and have since specialised in the economic history of pre-industrial Russia, with a focus on fiscal regimes and the history of nobility and their impact on economic growth and inequality.
