Alireza Naghavi is a full professor of Economics at the University of Bologna and an adjunct professor at John Hopkins University SAIS and Dickinson College in Bologna. He is currently the director of the Bachelor's degree in Economics of Tourism in Rimini. He holds a Ph.D. from University College Dublin. He has published in international journals such as Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Growth, Journal of International Economics, and Journal of Development Economics. He is currently the principal investigator PI of the PRIN project "New Protectionist Policies: Political Determinants and Economic Consequences", and was the global scientific coordinator of the European Commission’s FP7 project INGINEUS on Global Innovation Networks. His research interests focus on international trade and institutions, and include topic such as intellectual property rights, firm organization, innovation, migration, and the economics of religion.
