Alexandro Ferreira is currently a PhD student in the Department of Agricultural and Food Science at the University of Bologna. He is conducting his research under the supervision of Professor Andrea Monti. His main research topic is in the bioeconomy framework, specifically in growing industrial crops for non-food purposes, with a specific focus on the cultivation of industrial crops tailored for non-food purposes. In particular, he is studying two fiber crops and two oilseeds crops used to obtain biobased products.
Alexandro obtained his Bachelor's degree in Agriculture at the University of Turin in 2021. In the same year, he began his Master’s at the University of Bologna which he completed in 2023.
This year (2024), the: "Associazione Dottori in Scienze Agrarie, degli Alimenti ed Ambientali di Bologna" conferred him the “Premio tesi di laurea 2023 Emanuele Acquafredda” for his master thesis.
His master thesis focused on evaluation of the application of an innovative harvesting system know as “swathing” in Camelina sativa, an oilseed crop belonging to the Brassicaceae family.
