Short Bio

Born in Piacenza and grew up in Castel San Giovanni, I earned my PhD in Earth Sciences at the Pavia University. Since 2007 I am at the University of Bologna with various research positions. My research deals with the evolution of the Earth's crust and upper mantle by studying crystalline basements of the Alps and Northern Apennines, or xenoliths brought to the surface by alkali basalts.

I enjoy to work in the field and I don't dislike the lab. I like the creation of petrogenetic scenarios by thermodynamic modelling. I learned a lot on metamorphic rocks from visiting periods in France, Germany and Japan. I am also a proud supervisor of some talented PhD students.

Until 2026, I will be coordinator of the National Geology Project for the Piano Lauree Scientifiche.
