Short Bio

Director of Research at CNR with interests in cloud physics, satellite and radar
meteorology and regional climatology. Since 15 years he teaches cloud physics at the University of Bologna. He founded the International Precipitation Working Group (IPWG). He is chairman of the Scientific Application Group (SAG) of the new VIS/IR sensor METimage of EUMETSAT’s Post-EPS satellite. He has been member of the GEWEX Hydroclimatology Panel (GHP) of the World Climate Research Program (WCRP), the International Commission on Clouds and Precipitation (ICCP), the European Severe Storms Laboratory (ESSL) Scientific Advisory Group, and national representative within the Commission on Atmospheric Sciences of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
