Director of Research at ISAC-CNR and Scientific Coordinator of the Satellite Meteorology Group in Bologna.  Scientific Coordinator of the Group on "Physics of Clouds and Precipitation".

 

International activities

Visiting Scientist at the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) (1998-2001). 

Member of the Working Group on Data Management and Analysis (WGDMA) of the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP), a program of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) (2000-2004).

Chairman of the Applications Expert Group (AEG) on Nowcasting and Very Short Range Forecasting for the program on next generation geostationary satellites of EUMETSAT (2001-2002).

Chairman of the International Precipitation Working Group (IPWG) of the Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS), sponsored by WMO (2001-2004).

Member of the European Commission-NASA Earth Science Working Group (2001).

Member of the Core Group of the European Severe Storms Laboratory (ESSL) (2002-2016).

Member of the Working Group on Satellite Matters of WMO-WCRP (2003-2004).

Chairman of the Scientific Application Group of the MetImage sensor of EUMETSAT PostEPS platform  (2009-present) .
