Short Bio

Valentino Nizzo (Todi, 1975), completed his studies at the “Sapienza” University of Rome where he obtained a degree, specialization and PhD in Etruscology. After a two-year post-doctorate in “Global Archeology” at the Italian Institute of Human Sciences in Florence, in 2010 he became archaeologist of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, first at the National Archaeological Museum of Ferrara and then at the General Directorate for Museums. In 2017 he won the international selection for the direction of the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia. In 2014 he obtained the qualification as an associate professor of archeology.

Since 2018, as a highly qualified expert in the field, he has taught Museology at Udine University.

He has conducted numerous excavations and earned various awards and scholarships. He also has more than 200 publications and 4 monographies.

His interests focus on the historical and material culture issues of the Etruscan-Italic civilizations, on the first Greek colonization, on the comparison between archeology and anthropology, on funerary ideology and the mechanisms of archaeological communication. Go to the Curriculum vitae
