His main research interests are represented by the
pathophysiology of functional disorders of the GI tract (with
specific emphasis on GI motility, gastric secretion, gut microbiota, mucosal barrier functions and the relative control mechanisms), as well as
diagnosis and treatment of functional digestive syndromes including dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction, etc. Food and non-food allergies. A specific interest regards the interplay among microbiota, nutirnts, gut mucosa and relative immune system. A program on fecal transplantation is being developed.
