Master degree in Physics cum laude from the University of Bologna

Ph.D. in History of Science from the University of Pisa

Ph.D. in Anthropology and Epistemology of complexity from the University of Bergamo

Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Urbino

Qualification of Associate Professor of Logic, Philosophy and History of Science.

I have published several papers and books on the history of science, and in particular on the history of physics.

I have given talks, seminars and lectures at the Universities of Pavia, Pisa, Udine, and Urbino, at the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte in Berlin, and at the Institute Poincaré in Paris.

I have presented scientific communications to ESHS (European Society for the History of Science) SISFA. (Italian Society for the History of Physics and Astronomy), SILFS (Italian Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science), SIF. (Italian Society of Physics), and international conferences on the History of science.

I have held/ I am holding courses in

History of physics at the Department of Physics of Pavia University,

History of science and Epistemology at the Department of Education of Udine University, and

Mathematics at the Department of Pharmacy of Bologna University (Rimini Campus).

Natural philosophy and Philosophy of Science at the Department of Basic sciences and foundations of Urbino University.

I have taken part in research projects and projects of science popularisation in collaboration with the University of Pavia, the University of Urbino, and the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte in Berlin.

I have held courses in national projects for teachers’ re-training.

I can speak English and French, and I can translate from Italian, French, and German into English.

September 1, 1980 – August 31, 1981. I was associated with the research activity of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, Bologna University.

1995-6 I was associated to research activities of the research team (directed by Fabio Bevilacqua) in History of physics at Pavia University. I received a research grant in order to prepare a multi-medial, historical-didactical case study on Electromagnetic Induction in 1995, and two other historical-didactical case studies in 1996.

4. WORKSHOPS, EXHIBITIONS, COMMITEES, and CELEBRATIONS

2004-2005 I took part in the organisation and design of the exhibition dealing with the celebration of Einstein’s annus mirabilis (1905), and I took part in the edition of related volumes. I collaborated with both the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte in Berlin (the main seat of international celebrations), and the University of Pavia (the main seat of Italian celebrations). I wrote the first part of the Italian volume linked to the exhibition, and I took part in the edition of the whole volume (Fabio Bevilacqua and Jürgen Renn eds.). I wrote two contributions (in collaboration with Fabio Bevilacqua) in the volume Albert Einstein Ingenieur des Universums - Hundert Autoren für Einstein (Jürgen Renn ed.), which was also translated into English and Italian.

2011 I took part in the celebration of 150 years from Italian unification, and more specifically I wrote an essay on the history of Italian physics in the collective volume Storia d’Italia. Scienze e cultura dell’Italia unita (Claudio Pogliano and Francesco Cassata eds., volume 26 of Annali Einaudi).

2011-13 I served as the Secretary for the Committee for Interdisciplinary Events of Urbino University.

2012-2013 Organisation of joint workshops between the Department of basic sciences and foundations of Urbino University and the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Berlin (Department I, Jürgen Renn).

The workshops took place in Berlin, in April 11, 2012, and October 30-31, 2013 (Mathematics, Physics and Logic at the Crossroads).

I took part in the events as a speaker and organiser.

2012-2013 Organisation of joint workshops between the Department of basic sciences and foundations of Urbino University and the Department of Philosphy (Faculdad de Filosofia) of Barcelona.

The workshops took place in Urbino, in November 2-3, 2012 (Perspectives on Science and Metaphysics) and in Barcelona, in November 21-22, 2013 (History and Philosophy of Science).

I took part in the second workshop as a speaker and organiser.
