Short Bio

Dr. Sofia Marini is currently a Research fellow at the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences and she is a PhD in “Science and Culture of Wellbeing and Lifestyle” at the University of Bologna. Dr. Sofia Marini was born in Tuscany in 1992. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she gained a master’s degree in the Science and techniques of adapted and preventive physical activity, in 2017. Her research interests include public health, quality of life and physical activity. She focuses on benefits of physical activity in chronic disease, with an emphasis on osteoporosis. In 2016, she also performed a tutorship of Exercise Physiology in the Department of Physiology, Bologna. Her current research interests also include promoting physical activity in childhood. For this reason, in 2019, she went abroad for 3 months at Ulster University of Northern Ireland, working on exercise education in schools.

Dr. Sofia Marini became a Fellow of the European College of Sport Science and of the Italian Society of Health Promotion, in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
