Short Bio

Sara Angeloni was born in Ancona (Italy) in 1993. She got her degree (cum laude) in “Photochemistry and Molecular Materials” at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2017 with a thesis on “Light Harvesting Antennae based on Silicon Nanocrystals” under the supervision of the professor P. Ceroni. She started her PhD in chemistry at the University of Bologna in 2017, working on the synthesis, the functionalization and the characterization of silicon nanocrystals, under the supervision of the professor Paola Ceroni. During the PhD journey she worked on the “ERC Proof of Concept (SiNBioSys)” project about luminescent silicon nanocrystals for bioimaging and energy convertion. She spent one month in the University of Strasbourg (France), working in the Professor A. Klymchenko’s laboratory, in 2017 and six months in the University of Texas at Austin, working in the Professor B. Korgel’s laboratory, in 2019. In 2018, she signed a fixed-term employment contract with UNID Srl. to teach general chemistry. in June 2021 she got her PhD and she is currently working at the University of Bologna on the "CONDOR" project, thanks to a research fellow.
