Saba Kainat, born in Pakistan, is a PhD researcher in Data Science and Computation at the University of Bologna and IRCCS Giannina Gaslini Institute, Genoa, Italy. Her work focuses on artificial intelligence for clinical and pediatric data, with emphasis on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), medical NLP, de-identification, hallucination reduction, and ethical AI compliance. She develops secure offline RAG pipelines for healthcare decision support.
Before starting her PhD in 2023, she earned an MS in Mathematics from COMSATS University, Pakistan, applying neural networks and evolutionary computing to epidemic modeling. She has contributed to AI research on rare diseases and ICU prediction models, and participated in the Oxford Machine Learning Summer School (OxML 2025). Her goal is to translate computational methods into trustworthy AI tools to support pediatric healthcare.
