Full Professor since 2001 in Sociology of Cultural and
Communicative Processes, after have teached in other four Italian universities Stefano
Martelli is member of the Department
of Education Sciences at the "Alma Mater
Studiorum"-University of Bologna; here he is leading research in Sociology of Sport and Exercise,
such as on the socio-cultural aspects of major sporting events, especially communicative
and educational aspects of Olympics, Paralympics and international football Championships;
on exercise for health and well-being; on sport and religious pluralism; and on relational theory of society.
In 2008 Stefano Martelli
founded and today is the chairperson of the SportComLab, a study and research Center about Sports Communication (www.sportcomlab.it ), which is involved in
projects of national and international research. He is the author of more than twenty
books and a hundred of scientific articles, and he is the director of the Series
"Sports, Body, Society" (ed. Franco Angeli, Milan).
