As indicated on the Course Calendar, thenbsp;third short test (Areas of Expression - Areasnbsp;5 amp; 6) will be held on Friday 23/11 at 12.10 in Aula Reno.

The Short Tests are intended for students who attended the corresponding Areas of Expression Laboratories (held on 8/11 amp; 15/11).

Students intending to do the Test should simply be present outside Aula Reno at 12.05. There is no sign-up or reservation system.

During the Test, use of a monolingual dictionary is allowed.

Students preparing for the Test will find two model tests with solutions on IOL.unibo.it - These tests will be located in ARGOMENTO 15.

The Short Test will be followed at 13.10 by a further chance to make up an Intermediate Level Text Comprehension for those needing to do so.

In Aula Reno.On Friday 16-12-2016 there will be two make-up (`recupero´) sessions for the Areas of Expression module, at 12.00 and at 13.00. At each session students will be able to repeat one intermediate test (Areas of Expression -1amp;2 - 3amp;4 - 5amp;6 - 6,7 amp; 8) which they took on an earlier date but did not pass.

Students who have completed the intermediate tests relating to six Areas of Expression (obtaining pass grades - A, B or C) and have also attended five Text Comprehension Laboratories should access Almaesami (starting on Monday 12-12) and sign up for the ´Appello di sola verbalizzazione` (closing date 18-12-2016).

When they have signed up, they will receive notification of their final grade (out of 30).

Assuming they accept this result, it will be registered automatically three days later (NB: there is no requirement for students to be present for the registration).

Arrangements for other students (who, after 16-12, find themselves in any of the following situations):

2) For students who did the intermediate tests (Areas of Expression) but did NOT obtain pass grades (i.e. they obtained one or more `NC` results), the solution is to sign up for the exam on 17-1-2017 (or on subsequent dates) and repeat the sections in question.

3) For students who did some of the intermediate tests (Areas of Expression) but not all (i.e. after 16-12 they will have one or more tests still to do), the solution is to sign up for the exam on 17-1-2017 (or on subsequent dates) and do the sections in question on that date.

4) Students who have NOT done the intermediate tests (Areas of Expression) at all should sign up for the (written) exam (which will be held on 17-1-2017, and thereafter on dates in March, April, May, June amp; September 2017).

5) Students who have NOT attended the Text Comprehension Laboratories should sign up for the (written) exam (which will be held on 17-1-2017, and thereafter on dates in March, April, May, June amp; September 2017).

Tali studenti sono infatti esentati da 3 delle 5 sezioni di grammatica. Ciograve; significa che allrsquo;esame finale devono comunque svolgere 2 sezioni di grammatica (scelte tra le sezione 5 -10, vale a dire tra quelle di livello medio-avanzato), noncheacute; la sezione di Comprensione del testo (di livello medio-avanzato).

1. Il corso si articola in due livelli (Livello intermedio amp; Livello medio-avanzato): ogni studente deve decidere quale livello intende frequentare (per chi fosse incerto, esiste la possibilitagrave; di svolgere un test di autovalutazione - vedasi altro annuncio).
2. Per ciascuno dei due livelli (Intermedio amp; Medio-avanzato) si prevedono due moduli: Modulo di grammatica amp; Modulo di comprensione del testo scritto.
3. Per il Livello intermedio, la didattica relativa al Modulo di grammatica si svolge nel I periodo; per il Livello medio-avanzato, nel II periodo.
4. Per il Livello intermedio (Modulo di grammatica), gli studenti sono divisi in tre gruppi (A-E, F-M, N-Z). Per il Livello medio-avanzato si prevede un gruppo unico (A-Z).
5. Per il Modulo di grammatica (Livello intermedio) sono previste 4 ore di attivitagrave; didattiche la settimana (2 ore di lezioni frontali + 2 ore di laboratorio). Per il Livello medio-avanzato sono previste almeno 5 ore di attivitagrave; didattiche per ciascun argomento (non meno di 3 ore di lezioni frontali + 2 ore di laboratorio).nbsp;
6. Per il Laboratorio di grammatica del Livello intermedio ciascun gruppo di studentinbsp;(A-E, F-M, N-Z) ha un orario diverso (occorre comunque iscriversi - le modalitagrave;nbsp;verranno comunicate in seguito).
7. Il Modulo di comprensione del testo scritto egrave; concepito per lrsquo;autoapprendimento. The results of the Advanced Level Midterm can be viewed on the 'contenuti utili' page.
The mark achieved in the Midterm remains valid for the January 2014 amp; March 2014 exam sessions. At these sessions, students with a satisfactory result in the Midterm can 'complete the exam' by doing the remaining two Grammar Sections (7 amp; 9) nbsp;and the Text Comprehension.
After the March 2014 session, the Midterm mark is no longer valid, and students must sit the whole exam (= Grammar Sections 5-10 amp; Text Comprehension).

ESAME DI LINGUA INGLESE
PLEASE READ THISnbsp;(it applies to both the intermediate level and advanced level exams):
Like the final exam of any other university course, the Lingua Inglese exam presupposes that students have studied the course contents and are familiar with them. Its aim is to evaluate how successful each individual student has been in covering those contents. It is NOT - and is not intended to be - a general test of linguistic ability that can be undertaken without specific preparation.
In particular:
(i) the grammar exercises in the exam follow the model of those contained in the course materials (available from AlmaDL).
(ii) the reading text in the exam is taken directly from the reading materials covered in the course (available from AlmaDL).
Students are strongly advised NOT to take the exam without first familiarising themselves with the course materials. They are also advised to familiarise themselves with the exam itself. For this purpose, several past exam papers have been made available as 'model exams' (together with solutions and explanations). Look innbsp;AlmaDL for these.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL EXAM (prova di livello intermedio)
Time allowed: 2 hours amp; 30 minutes.
Monolingual dictionaries may be used during the exam. Bilingual dictionaries are not allowed.

Students should complete up to five Grammar Sections amp;nbsp;the Text Comprehension Section.
In other words, they should:
- complete the four intermediate level Grammar Sections (Sections 1-4);
- complete the Text Comprehension section;
- (optionally) complete one of the advanced level Grammar Sections (Sections 5 amp; 6 arenbsp;appended tonbsp;the examnbsp;- the other advanced level Grammar Sections are available on request).nbsp;

Eachnbsp;Grammar Section carries a maximum of 8 marks.
The Text Comprehension section carries 20 marks. (Grand total = 60; pass mark 36/60)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THEnbsp;ADVANCED LEVEL EXAM (prova di livello medio-avanzato)
Time allowed: 2 hours amp; 30 minutes.
