Research

Research interests revolve around Italian, comparative, European and international criminal law, as well as humanitarian and human rights law.

In particular:
- the prohibition of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment
- hybrid" criminal courts (e.g. Khmer Rouge Tribunal; Kosovo Specialist Chambers)
- unlawful detention before international courts and tribunals
- the international crime of persecution, incitement to genocide
- administrative detention (of migrants and civilians during an armed conflict)
- victims' rights
- war crimes
- the crime of denialism and European case law on freedom of expression
