Mauro Zanuccoli is mainly involved in numerical simulation and modeling of semiconductor photovoltaic devices (crystalline silicon and thin-film amorphous silicon). He has contributed at the development of numerical simulation algorithms for the modeling of light scattering from nanostructured surfaces in thin film solar cells. During his activity several simulation tools for the rigorous solution of Maxwell equations have been developed. They are mainly based on Rigorous Coupled Wave Analysis (RCWA) and on the Fourier Modal Method (FMM). Mauro Zanuccoli is also involved in the modeling of low and medium concentrator solar cells. From 2011 and 2014 he has been working on the European Project Nanofunction FP7-NOE on numerical simulation of nanowire-based solar cells. Currently he is working on Lab4MemsII European Project on optical simulation of micro-mirrors for optical MEMS. Mauro Zanuccoli is author and coauthor of more than 40 publications including international journals, conference proceedings, book chapters and international patents. He is also reviewer for several international journals on numerical simulation of solar cells.
