coronary plaqueMassimo Cocchi started his career as a researcher at the Institute of Biological Chemistry of the University of Bologna, in the field of Nutrition Biochemistry. Research interests have been directed, and are today, to the biochemistry of lipids and fatty acids in particular, at the level of tissues, cells and cell membranes. A particular effort was devoted to understanding the peculiarities of the biochemical function of Linoleic Acid and Cholesterol. He has been involved in national and international research projects. He is currently a member of an international group of scientists, called QPP (Quantum Paradigm Psychopathology). The Kyoto Prize nomination in 2008 represented an international recognition for the realization of a bio-mathematical combination that allowed the diagnostic recognition of some psychopathologies (Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder) as well as ischemic heart disease with coronary plaque.
