I was born on February 5 1952. I obtained the degree in Mathematics
on March 3 1975 with prof. Bruno de Finetti as supervisor. From
August 1 to October 31 1976 I had a C. N. R. fellowship under the
supervision of prof. Bruno de Finetti.
I had fellowships from Italian C. N. R., Italian Department of
Public Education. Then I was born on February 5 1952. I obtained
the degree in Mathematics on March 3 1975 with prof. Bruno de
Finetti as supervisor.
I had fellowships from Italian C. N. R., Italian Department of
Public Education. Then I was researcher, associate professor at the
University of Rome "La Sapienza", II University of Rome - Tor
Vergata, Università della Basilicata and University of Bologna.
Since November 1 1990 I am full professor of Probability Theory and
Mathematical Statistics at the Faculty of Science of the University
of Bologna.
I have been visitor at the I. H. E. S. of Bures-sur-Yvette
(France), at the University of Priceton and at the University of
California at Irvine.
My research works are mainly devoted to stochastic systems:
stochastic processes, Gibbs random fields, percolation theory,
disordered systems.
I have studied local limit property for Gibbs random fields and
its relation with central limit theorem (see[27] OP). This property
is particularly relevant in relation with the problem of the
equivalence of the ensembles.
I have also worked on chaotic or stochastic behaviour of
dinamica systems and in particolar of maps o fan interval into
itself (see [8], [9] [10], [25], [28] OP). Related to
this problem is the proof of the existence of a solution of
Feigenbaum's functional equation ( see[26], [27] OP).
Other works concern the rigorous study of disordered systems and
in particolar operators with random potential and Gibbs random
fields with random potential (see [13], [14] [15], [16], [17]
[18], [19], [20] [21], [27] OP) .
I have then worked on problems concerning the mathematical
theory of random fields and percolation see ([5],
[6], [23], [24] OP). In particularly the work in which
for the first time Ornstein Zernike behaviour for Bernoulli
percolation up to the critical work is particularly relevant (see
[12] OP). This work has then been continued and extended in various
more recent works (see [2], [3], [4] OP, [2], [5] Observatory
of research).
Presently I am studying with prof. M. Gianfelice the property of entanglement for the Quantum Ising model with transverse magnetic field using a stochastic representation.
In the last few years I studied properties of random walks on directed planar graphs (random and non-random), starting from a joint work with D. Petritis where almost sure transience is proved for a random walk on a square directed graph where the directions are chosen independently with equal probability cor the horizontal bonds. This unexpected result has started series of related researches. Jointly with prof. Dimitri Pertitis and Dr. Gianluca Bosi I have obtained results on this line.
I was national coordinator of the 2006 Prin project "Percolation,
random fields, evolution of stochastics interacting systems" and of
the 2009 Prin project "Random fields, percolation and stochastic
evolution of systems with many components" I was member of
the editorial board of the "Far East Journal of Mathematical
Sciences" and I am member of the editorial board of "International
Journal of Statistics and Systems".
