(ARCO - DISCI) Exam Results – Inglese 1 and Inglese 2 (23 September 2026)

Dear students,

Below you will find the results of the exams taken on 23 September:

Inglese 1 – written and oral parts, with the final mark for those who completed both parts.
Inglese 2 – written exam.

You have 48 hours to decline your mark by sending me an email (mariangela.picciuol2@unibo.it) no later than 25 September, at 5 pm (17:00). After this deadline, the marks will be published on AlmaEsami.

Please note that once a mark has been declined, the decision is final and cannot be reversed.

If you wish to see your exam papers, please send me a request by email and we will arrange an online appointment. Please note that individual mistakes or corrections will not be discussed by email; these can be reviewed during the appointment.

The next exam session (appello) is on 22 October, for both Inglese 2 and Inglese 1 (oral and written). Please check AlmaEsami and register by the due date.

If you need to retake Inglese 2, please make sure you consult the course materials available in my Virtuale space and practise using the exercises provided there in preparation for the next exam.

Mediation - English: Oral Exam – 16 September 2026: Information for Candidates

Below you will find all the essential information for the oral exam.

Each candidate has been randomly assigned a field of mediation (i.e. business, healthcare, legal), as shown in the list below.

1. Student Status amp; Task Type

Your exam format depends on your student profile:

ITALIAN / DOMESTIC students

➡️ Mediation English ↔ Italian

INTERNATIONAL students

➡️ Mediation English → English (spoken report-back)

👉 Please check that you appear in the correct INT / ITA group.

2. Date, Location amp; Timing

📅 Wednesday, 16 September

📍 Aula VIII / Room VIII – Via Cartoleria 5

The exam starts at 9:00.

➡️ Please arrive at least 15 minutes early (by 8:45) so that we can start promptly at 9:00.

3. Exam Procedure

Students will enter the room in groups of three, following the same order as in the table above.
Only one student is examined at a time.
The other two remain in the room as silent observers.
Students do not interact with each other during the exam.
When one group finishes, the next group is called.

⚠️ Please remain quiet and respectful while others are being assessed.

Listeners (non-candidates only)

You may attend only if you are not taking the exam on that date and subject to available space.

Please note that:

entry is not permitted once a slot has begun
silence is required throughout

4. Note-taking – Bring Your Materials

You are strongly recommended to take notes during Part 1.

Allowed:

paper
tablet (handwritten only)

Not recommended:

laptops / keyboards

🔴 Please bring your own pen and paper.

5. Marks amp; Publication

You must complete both written and oral components to receive a final mark.

Partial marks cannot be rejected.

You may accept or decline only the final combined score.

Publication timeline amp; grade management

Step 1 – Publication on Virtuale

Results will be published on Virtuale indicatively on 18 September 2026. You will receive an automatic notification at your institutional Unibo email address when the results are available, so please make sure you check your Unibo email regularly.

All students will see their oral result.
Students who have already completed the written part will also see their written result.
If both components have been passed, you will also see your final combined grade, calculated as:
Written = 1/3 · Oral = 2/3
(e.g. Written = 24; Oral = 27 → (24 + 27 + 27) / 3 = 26)

If one component is missing or has not been passed, no final grade can be calculated or registered.

Declining a grade (48-hour window)

Only final grades can be declined.

After final grades are published on Virtuale, you will have 48 hours from the time of publication to decline.

⚠️ The 48-hour period is calculated as 48 consecutive hours and includes weekends and public holidays.

To decline:

After this window:

the grade will be officially registered on AlmaEsami
refusals (if any) will be recorded accordingly

If one part is missing or has not been passed

If one component is missing or has not been passed:

the available result will be published on Virtuale
no final grade will appear on AlmaEsami
no rejection is possible at this stage

You must complete and pass the missing or failed component before:

receiving a final grade
having the right to accept or decline it

Retakes

Retakes are allowed with no numerical limit.
If you have declined a final grade and take the oral again, you must also retake the written part.
Only new final grades (written + oral) can be accepted or declined.

6. Final Notes

✔ Bring a valid ID card on the day of the exam.
✔ Check your assigned field and student status carefully.
✔ Be in Aula VIII by 8:45.
✔ Respect others while observing.
✔ Trust your preparation – you’re ready.

Inglese 2 ARCO. Classes this week and a seminar not to miss

Dear all,

a quick reminder about this week's classes.nbsp;
We meet on Tuesday 13 May, 3-5 pm, and on Friday 15 May, 1-3 pm. Friday will be our last class of the course.

I also want to draw your attention to a seminar taking place on Thursday 14 May, 11 am-1 pm, Aula II (Via Zamboni 38) as part of the seminar cycle valid for the 3 CFU ARCO. It is not part of our course, but I genuinely recommend it. A visiting international scholar will be speaking about the role of lingua francas in the history of science, tracing how English became the global language of scientific knowledge. It is a great opportunity to listen to an international academic, practise your English listening skills, and reflect on a question that is far from trivial: is science truly universal, or is it shaped by the language and culture in which it is produced?

You will find all the details at this link. Attendance is not compulsory, but I would be very happy to see you there!

L’esame è composto da due parti:

Prova scritta (50%)
Prova orale (50%)

Nella tabella sono riportati:

il voto della prova scritta
il voto della prova orale
il voto finale (solo per chi ha completato e superato entrambe le parti)

✅ Se ha completato e superato entrambe le parti, il voto finale sarà pubblicato a breve su AlmaEsami.

🟡 Se ha completato solo una delle due parti, il risultato è registrato ma non sarà ancora pubblicato.
È necessario completare (e superare) anche l’altra parte affinché il voto possa essere pubblicato su AlmaEsami.

Scadenza per il rifiuto del voto (obbligatoria)

Se desidera rifiutare il voto finale, deve farlo entro il 20 marzo alle ore 12:00 (mezzogiorno):

Inviando una e-mail entro la scadenza;

Si informano gli studenti e le studentesse che nella giornata di domani, 18 Marzo 2026, si svolgeranno i seguenti esami in AULA B (accesso da via Centotrecento 18):

ore 9:00 – Inglese 2 (scritto)
ore 10:30 – Inglese 1 (scritto)
ore 12:00 – Inglese 1 (orale)

Si segnala che, per errore tecnico su AlmaEsami, l’appello di Inglese 2 (scritto) risulta associato all’attività formativa “Inglese 1 (42211)” invece che “Inglese 2 (42212)”.
Si conferma tuttavia che l’esame delle ore 9:00 è regolarmente Inglese 2 (scritto).

Per quanto riguarda Inglese 2, sono già disponibili ulteriori appelli nel periodo maggio–settembre.
