Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli born in Bologna (26th.10.1951) BA (luglio 1973) with honors (overall mark of 110+/110) in Philosophy from the University of Bologna (Facoltà di “Lettere e Filosofia”) with a thesis on Medieval History.

Her field of research is History, including the History of Culture, Society and Mentality during the Medieval period, in particular the Low Middle Ages. She also studies the history of Penitence in the High Middle Ages. Specifically she deals with the history of Preaching, Economical Ethics and the Monti di Pietà. In addition she studies Sumptuary Laws, History of Fashion and Women’s History.

In 2010 as national coordinator presented a scientific research project on “The veil: significance and representation. Costume and Society (13°-17° centuries). Women and Law” (with Universities of Firenze and of Perugia) to request ministerial cofinancing. (total coast 188-205 euro. C cost of Bologna Unit euro 77.827).

In January 2011 coordinated the project ”Momento Italia/Brasil 2011/2012” with the Istituto dei Beni Culturali della regione Emilia-Romagna on the topic of “Italian Fashion/Historic Patrimony and Emilia-Romagna Projects”.

Her research has been presented in:
