Short Bio

Full Professor in Bologna since 2010, he graduated in Foreign Languages and Literature at the University "Ca 'Foscari" in Venice and received his doctoral degree in Iberian Studies at the University of Bologna. He has taught Italian language at the University of Barcelona in the years 1994-1999; he is interested mainly in Spanish classical theater, collaborating since its beginning with the research group PROLOPE in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is the author of numerous essays, articles and critical editions regarding the theater of Lope de Vega and other playwrights of the Spanish Golden Age and the eighteenth century, including Miguel de Cervantes, Juan de la Cueva, Antonio Mira de Amescua and José de Cañizares. His interests also include the medieval poetry cancioneril and spanish novella of the seventeenth century. He currently works with numerous international research projects on the theater of the Siglo de Oro, is interested in Textual Bibliography, Digital Humanities and Genetic Criticism, and is director of the series Dulcinea publisher Marsilio.
