Short Bio

Professor at the University of Bologna since 2018, he has been Professor of Anesthesia and Chair of the Residency Program in Anesthesia and Reanimation at the University of Turin (from 2001 to 2015) and Sapienza University of Rome (from 2015 to 2018). In those years he directed the Department of Anesthesia of Molinette (Turin) and Umberto I (Rome) hospitals. He carries out his research in the field of intensive care. Research interests  aimed in particular at the treatment of various forms of acute respiratory failure. Currently, he coordinates randomized controlled clinical trials on the effectiveness of mechanical ventilation and extra-corporeal lung support, and on the efficacy of pharmacological interventions for the treatment of ARDS. He studies the biological mechanisms of ventilator-induced lung injury. Coordinates projects funded by the European Community, AIFA, Ministry of Health, MIUR. Author of numerous publications; H index 83 (TIS). He was president of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (2006-2008) Go to the Curriculum vitae

Coordinates projects funded by the European Community, AIFA, Ministry of Health, MIUR and is the senior author of numerous publications on major journals (NEJM, JAMA, Lancet RM, AJRCCM etc.); H index 83 (TIS). He was president of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (2006-2008)
