Luca Valente is currently pursuing a PhD degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Bologna, under the supervision of professors Luca Benini and Davide Rossi. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2018. He then earned the Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2020, with final grade 110/110. He has also spent the second year of the Master’s Degree as an Erasmus student at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. Eventually, he worked on his Master’s Thesis as an intern at the Barcelona Supercomputing Research Center.
His PhD is funded by the European Processor Initiative project and he is recipient of the scholarship “Hardware-software codesign for parallel architectures targeting machine learning applications”. He is also a contributor and Hardware Designer within the PULP Platform project, a joint effort between the Integrated Systems Laboratory (IIS) of ETH Zurich and Energy-efficient Embedded Systems (EEES) group of the University of Bologna to explore new and efficient architectures for ultra-low-power processing
