Short Bio

PhD candidate at the University of Bologna since 2017 and involved in the double degree doctorate programme with the Technical University of Munich since 2019. He carries out his research in the field of technical architecture and building rehabilitation in seismic context. The main research topic underlying his PhD thesis is the development of new integrated seismic and energy improvement technologies on existing buildings (Pro-GET-onE - EU Project, Horizon 2020). External structures such as steel and/or aluminium frames, or based on cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels are studied in collaboration with prefabricated architectural components in order to guarantee a simultaneous architectural and energy improvement.

Other research topics are:

  • vulnerability assessments of existing RC buildings on a large scale, using neural network systems;
  • dynamic characterisation of existing RC buildings with the use of frequency meters;
  • development of connection systems between CLT elements using post-tensioning cables to create moment-resisting joints.
