Adjunct professor

Department of Statistical Sciences "Paolo Fortunati"

Short Bio

Since 2020, I am professor of Statistics at the University of Bologna. I was professor of Data Analytics and Statistics at the University of Leeds from 2015-2021 and professor of Statistical Genetics at the University of Leiden from 2010-2015. My research areas are statistical bioinformatics and (genetic) epidemiology. In particular, I am interested in the analysis of data from studies with outcome dependent sampling (e.g. families with at least one case), in integration of multiple omics datasets and in using existing information (e.g. genetic pathways) in statistical modelling to increase efficiency. I have been coordinator of the FP7 collaborative project MIMOmics and the Horizon 2020 funded MC Innovative Training Network IMforFUTURE (www.IMforFUTURE.eu). Both consortia developed methods for the analysis of omics data.
