Nota biografica

J.D. Mininger completed his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of Minnesota in 2006. He began teaching at LCC International University (Klaipeda, Lithuania) and Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania) in 2007. At VMU he was promoted to Professor of Philosophy in 2015. In January 2017 he was appointed as Academic Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty at LCC. Since August of 2022 he is Provost at the American University in Bulgaria.

He is the managing editor of the philosophy focused Value Inquiry Book Series (VIBS) at Brill (Leiden/Boston), editor of the VIBS subseries Philosophy, Literature, and Politics, and a senior editor at the Baltic Journal of Law and Politics.

Mininger’s intellectual interests converge at the intersections of philosophy, literature, and politics. His scholarly specializations include: the literary and political dimensions of philosophy, and the philosophical and political dimensions of literature; topics within aesthetic theory and literary criticism such as late style, irony, and allegory; and themes within political philosophy, including problems of sovereignty and human rights.
