He was born in Venice in 1956. Reviewer and film critic from 1990 he teaches Cultural Management in Cinema and Audiovisual at the DMS of Bologna University from 2004. As festival director he founded and directed Antenna Cinema, MystFest, The Rome Film Festival, RIFF in Reykjavik (main programmer), Noir in festival (actually in Como and Milan), Giornate degli Autori (actually at the Venice Film Festival). He was deputy director of the Venice Film Festival from 1992 to 1996 and director for the Italian Cinema Promotion from 1999 to 2004. Then he founded the Festa del Cinema in Rome, directed from 2006 to 2008. He wrote books on Marguerite Duras, Alfred Hitchcock, Luigi Comencini, Carlo Di Carlo, Allan Dwann, Orson Welles and two essays on Film Noir and cinema and journalism ("Print the Legend"). He also teaches cultural management in cinema and events at IULM in Milan. He lives and works in Rome.
