Theatre educator, actor, and director, his main research areas are theatre directing, actor’s pedagogy, Commedia dell’Arte, improvisation, and storytelling. Among his publications, there are articles, both in English and Italian, for the journals «Maske und Kothurn», «Theatre Research International», «Italica», and «Quaderni d’Italianistica», and the volume Una pedagogia dell’attore. L’insegnamento di Orazio Costa (Rome, Bulzoni, 1996, 2nd ed.). After the Ph.D. at the University of Toronto, whit a dissertation on the two productions of the Tempest directed by Giorgio Strehler, he has been teaching theatre and Italian in various North American universities. Presently, in Italy, he teaches several courses at Accademia dell’Arte, an American school based in Arezzo that offers study abroad programs and a Master in physical theatre; at the Acting School “Orazio Costa” of Teatro della Toscana in Florence; and at various Italian theatre associations. Between 2014 and 2016, he has presented a series of lectures on actor’s pedagogies for the Master in Social Theatre and Dramatherapy of the University of Rome.
