Short Bio

I graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Unibo and I enrolled on the Ph.D. programme in 2014, where I conducted my research on fiber reinforced composite materials. I defended my thesis in April 2018.

In 2015 i participated in EU-funded project CARIM, partnering Riba Composites and Fraunhofer ICT, in the development of a full carbon wheel for automotive application.

In 2019 i spent one year at DTU in Copenhagen, applying fracture mechanics principles in sandwich structures for wind turbine blades.

Starting 2020, I am continuing my work at Unibo, focusing on crashworthy applications and simulation of dynamic crush events in fiber reinforced composite materials.

My research finds application in automotive and aeronautics sectors, where widespread adoption of composite materials could pave way to a new generation of vehicles with lighter weight and better passive safety.

I am member of the CMH-17 Crashworthiness group, aimed at documenting the best design and simulation practices for utilization of composites as energy absorbing structures in commercial airplanes.
