Activity: Perform railway capacity simulation tasks using the Opentrack Railway simulator tool.
The activity is focused on understanding how to equip the railway line with ERTMS Level 2 starting from a performance requirement of headway provided by the customer.
The objective is to search for optimization of the equipment (correct positioning of the signals, dimensioning of the block sections) in order to ensure maximum exploitation of the line capacity.
In case the requirements are not met for reasons outside the equipment, alternative solutions have been studied to be presented to the customer to meet the pre-set requirements (e.g. changes to the rolling stock).
The project did not provide for the dimensioning of the operating hours. All simulations are performed by analyzing only pairs of train trackers.

Tender: Metro Milano Line 2

Place: Milan, Italy
Period Time: Jan.19 – Oct. 19
Activity: Full design of Milan Metro Line 2 (progressive, signaling, train speed limits, train parameters) using Opentrack Railway simulator tool.
The objective is to seek an optimization of the CBTC system through train parameters and operating model in order to achieve an acceptable train cadence (headway below 90 s, commercial speed above 32 km/h) for a metropolitan transport service.
The simulation activities are focused on the study of the different parts of the line in order to identify the critical points (bottlenecks); in particular, the turnback movements to the line leaders have been simulated, the movements at the forks and the movements in the mainline.
Final output was the design of a daily train graph.

 

Project: Tvärbanan Tramway Line 22
System: ATC
Place: Stockholm, Sweden
Period Time: May.19 – Oct. 19
Activity: Complete modelling of the Tvärbanan Line 22 of the Stockholm tramway, Sweden using the Opentrack Railway simulator tool.
The objective is to verify that the modifications made to the signalling system in some sections of the line do not impact the operating program and consequently the current performance of the line.
Through a Time Table provided in input by the customer, the entire exercise program has been modelled.

 

Project: ERTMS Tools & Process
Place: Bologna, Italy
Period Time: Sep.19 – Now
Activity: Evaluation of the feasibility migration process of the ERTMS project design function. In-depth study and input/output integration test on the TPE tool to generate schematic plans.

 

Project: SIGMARAIL Lidar acquisition
Place: Bologna, Italy
Period Time: Sep.19 – Jan.20
Activity: Analysis of the data acquisition process with LIDAR platform.
Analysis of the outputs provided by SIGMARAIL (point cloud, 3D models, floor plans, excel database). Evaluation studies on data integration in the current ERTMS Alstom process.

 

Project: Milano-Monza-Chiasso line: Gradient Segmentation Analysis
Place: Bologna, Italy
Period Time: Nov.19 – Feb.20
Activity: Analysis of ERTMS User Group guidelines documentation for merging railway gradients. Gradient grouping is a recurrent activity in the design, used to approximate the altimetric trend of the paths in order to reduce the large amount of raw data to be managed in inputs.
Performing performance audits to assess which methodology to apply and compression algorithm analysis.
Management and insertion of output data in the schematic plan through AePlan tool.
