  • Study of molecular and functional properties of astrocytes (ion channels and aquaporins).
Research interest is currently focused on the study and implementation of biomaterials, organic materials and nanomaterials and their interaction with neural cells. The applicative purpose is the development of optoelectronic biomedical devices and scaffolds, based on natural biopolymers and multifunctional organic materials (such as organic semiconductors), integrated in biosensors for the recording, stimulation and modulation of electrophysiological signals of neuronal cells, for the diagnostic lab -on-a-chip, and for therapeutic purposes in the field of neuro-regenerative medicine that targets the functional and homeostatic recovery of neuronal cells.
