Elena Hoster

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bologna, working in the project "Chow Ring of Toric Arrangements" (CRoTA), which is led by Roberto Pagaria. I completed my PhD in algebraic combinatorics at Ruhr University Bochum under the supervision of Christian Stump.

My research focuses on polynomial invariants of posets associated to matroids and hyperplane arrangements, such as Chow polynomials and ab-indices. I am particularly interested in properties of their coefficients, for example, positivity, unimodality, log-concavity and beyond. Within CRoTA, I aim to extend these phenomena from the linear to the toric setting.
