Short Bio

Casciano has been an Assegnista di Ricerca at the University of Bologna since 2021 and a Researcher for the LUXCORE project. His main area of focus is socio-cultural anthropology. As an Adjunct Professor, he will teach a course on the anthropology of crime and criminalisation in 2021. His research interests, which have been primarily located in Africa (Nigeria and South Africa) and Italy, include modern religious movements (Charismatic and Pentecostal Christianity), social protest movements, crime and criminalisation, corruption, security (public and private), and information technology. Currently, Casciano is examining the conspicuous consumption of transnational elites and the neoliberal moral economy in Africa and Italy. Go to the Curriculum vitae
