Video on Demand optimization in shared cache fog networking architectures

• Video on demand is gaining an increasing interest, however it suffers from very high bandwidth requests
• Fog networking is a new paradigm aiming at leveraging the edge of the networking for implementing a seamless cloud service
• The goal of this thesis is to exploit the presence of several devices for implementing a Video on Demand technique aiming at exploiting the caches of the edge devices

A satellite perspective to Fog Networking

• Fog networking is a new paradigm aiming at leveraging the edge of the networking for implementing a seamless cloud service
• Recently a new approach to satellite communications has been proposed aiming at exploiting small satellites in mega-constellations
• The idea would be that of exploiting such megaconstellation for implementing a fog satellite service to be used for distributed processing

Proof-of-concept implementation of Fog Networking services

• Fog networking is a new paradigm aiming at leveraging the edge of the networking for implementing a seamless cloud service
• In order to be effective fog networking should be platform independent
• The goal would be that of implementing a fog networking service discovery able to interact with different platform (e.g.,Android, Linux, Intel based, IoT)
• The student should be able to work with a practical demo by using our server

Personal Fog Networks

• People are having today lots of devices that can interact among them and with the surrounding environment, e.g., smartphone, tablets, smartwatch, connected cars, connected TVs
• The idea would be that of developing techniques aiming at enhance the interaction among the personal devices for implementing a personal fog network
