Damiano Genovese obtained his PhD in Chemistry at University of Bologna in 2011, in the field of fluorescent labels and sensors based on dye-doped nanoparticles, under the supervision of prof. Luca Prodi. As a student, he received two grants to fund his research stays in Ecole Normale Superieure (France) and in Harvard University (USA).
Following such achievements, he was awarded the ENI prize 2013 for his “Debut in Research”.
He has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for a research project on new responsive materials for transport in nanopores, a research performed in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) in the research group of prof. Luisa De Cola.
He is now a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemistry “G. Ciamician” in Università di Bologna.
His research spans interdisciplinary fields such as colloids physics and surface chemistry, self-assembling systems, and nanostructured photoactive materials for optoelectronics, sensing, and biomedicine.
